    East Commons Way – Temporary Construction Traffic and Fencing - From 08/05/2024 to 09/06/2024

    Three ADA parking stalls on East Commons Way, parallel to the Atkinson Hall building, will be closed to facilitate construction material loading and unloading. There will also be construction traffic between the hours of work detailed below on East Commons Way, going into the electrical yard between Atkinson Hall and North Education. Additionally, there will be a small fenced-in area near the electrical yard outside of the North Education building, enclosing a temporary transformer. Please also be advised that the work will result in localized dust and noise.

    Loss of Redundancy in Power Generation - Sub C&D - On 08/01/2024

    Occupants need to be aware that we will not have our normal cogeneration redundancy for Substations C and D, and that any SDG&E loss of power during this time frame will affect the buildings listed above. Although the likelihood of a utility interruption during this maintenance period is low, it is recommended that any sensitive equipment be shut down prior to the scheduled maintenance period.

    Due to a crane pick activity scheduled to place a rooftop transformer on the roof of the Aztec Bookstore building, the end of East Commons Way between North Education 60 and Charles B. Bell Jr. Pavilion will be temporarily closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic for the duration specified below. Please heed the direction and instruction of flaggers in the area.

    Aztec Bookstore and Education – Planned Electrical Outages - From 07/27/2024 to 07/29/2024

    As part of the campus electrical upgrades project, planned electrical outage for the Aztec Bookstore and Education buildings are required. There will be periodic construction personnel traffic in and around the Aztec Bookstore Electrical Yard throughout the entire duration of the work. The outage will entail a total loss of power for the durations specified below, affecting systems such as heating and air, lighting, receptacle convenience power, card/access/access control, elevators, etc. It is highly recommended that sensitive equipment unable to withstand an outage should be powered down the day before to avoid unanticipated impacts to the equipment during the outage window. After the outage, users will be able to re-enter the buildings and confirm that power is restored, and systems are fully functional. Any issues should be communicated immediately to the project team using the contact information provided at the end of this notification. ** Please also note that the Aztec Bookstore and Education buildings will be closed to the public throughout the outage window detailed below. **

    Due to a crane pick activity scheduled to place a rooftop transformer on the roof of the Arts & Letters building, the west portion of the Avenue of the Arts roadway and the sidewalks parallel to Art I South and PSFA along the Avenue of the Arts will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic for the duration specified below. The Pedestrian and ADA access path alongside the Art I South building will be periodically interrupted for a short duration while the crane travels over the path. Please heed the direction and instruction of flaggers in the area.

    UPDATE - Engineering - Planned Electrical Outages - 07/24/2024

    Please be aware that the Engineering building will experience an additional planned electrical outage, which was not included in the previously communicated list due to unforeseen conditions encountered during the ongoing work. The building-wide outage will result in the same impacts as originally communicated including a full building-closure during the hours of duration for the work. We suggest the same precautions as previously recommended for powering down sensitive equipment.
