    REMINDER II - Storm Complex – Planned Electrical Outages - On 08/12/2024 and 08/23/2024

    As part of the campus electrical upgrades project, a planned electrical outage for the Storm Complex buildings is required. There will be periodic construction personnel traffic in and around the Storm Complex buildings throughout the entire duration of the work. The outage will entail a total loss of power for the durations specified below, affecting systems such as heating and air, lighting, receptacle convenience power, card/access/access control, elevators, etc. It is highly recommended that sensitive equipment unable to withstand an outage should be powered down the day before to avoid unanticipated impacts to the equipment during the outage window. After the outage, users will be able to re-enter the buildings and confirm that power is restored, and systems are fully functional. Any issues should be communicated immediately to the project team using the contact information provided at the end of this notification. ** Please also note that the Storm Complex buildings will be closed to the public throughout the outage window detailed below. ** Duration of Impacts: The outage schedule is as follows: 1.     Art II North, Engineering and New Substation A - On 08/06/2024

    The pretesting of the fire alarm system in support of upgrades to the fire safety system within the buildings will necessitate construction personnel to occupy Art II North building’s mechanical room 200, Engineering building mechanical room 118A and the New Substation A building. Please be advised that the work will result in localized dust and noise, but there are no planned outages to any building systems.

  • Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade Notification

    Avenue of the Arts - From 08/05/2024 to 08/30/2024

    Due to ongoing electrical upgrades within the Storm Complex (Aztec Shop Terrace, Nasatir Hall, Storm Hall, and Storm Hall Terrace) buildings, the west portion of the Avenue of the Arts roadway near the electrical yard will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic for the duration specified below. There will be construction fencing and delineation to close off the area. ADA access paths of travel are not anticipated to be impacted.

    East Commons Way – Temporary Construction Traffic and Fencing - From 08/05/2024 to 09/06/2024

    Three ADA parking stalls on East Commons Way, parallel to the Atkinson Hall building, will be closed to facilitate construction material loading and unloading. There will also be construction traffic between the hours of work detailed below on East Commons Way, going into the electrical yard between Atkinson Hall and North Education. Additionally, there will be a small fenced-in area near the electrical yard outside of the North Education building, enclosing a temporary transformer. Please also be advised that the work will result in localized dust and noise.

    Loss of Redundancy in Power Generation - Sub C&D - On 08/01/2024

    Occupants need to be aware that we will not have our normal cogeneration redundancy for Substations C and D, and that any SDG&E loss of power during this time frame will affect the buildings listed above. Although the likelihood of a utility interruption during this maintenance period is low, it is recommended that any sensitive equipment be shut down prior to the scheduled maintenance period.

Bell Jr. Pavilion will be temporarily closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic for the duration specified below. Please heed the direction and instruction of flaggers in the area.
