UPDATE - Loss of Redundancy in Power Generation - All Campus - On 10/10/2024
Oct 10Occupants should be aware that normal cogeneration redundancy will be temporarily unavailable for the full campus. Although the likelihood of a utility interruption during this maintenance period is low while the campus is utilizing power from SDG&E, it is recommended that any sensitive equipment be shut down prior to the scheduled maintenance period in an abundance of caution.

All Campus Users - From 10/07/2024 to 02/05/2025
Oct 7The relocation of the SDG&E electrical pole to the Engineering Building courtyard will require the courtyard to be temporarily closed with construction fencing. The courtyard closure will impact the ADA path of travel through the courtyard, but other alternate ADA paths of travel will remain accessible. During active construction for relocation of the pole, the following impacts are anticipated: • For potholing and augering activities, a number of ADA parking spots in the Engineering Building lot will be temporarily closed for one day. • The parking lot behind the GMCS Building will be temporarily closed to accommodate construction truck parking and equipment traffic for one day. • Single lane closure in a portion of Aztec Circle to safely relocate the SDG&E pole to the Engineering Building courtyard. Thru traffic will be maintained. Please heed the directions and instructions of signage and flaggers in the area.
Hardy Tower (HT), Life Sciences North (LSN), Life Sciences South (LSS), Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center (BSCI), and Engineering (ENG) - From 10/07/2024 to 12/13/2024
Oct 7Due to ongoing electrical upgrades in the Life Sciences South (LSS), construction trucks and equipment will intermittently park near the Vegetation Garden between LSN and LSS. Construction fencing housing the temporary transformer will be set up near the existing electrical enclosure at LSS. Please be advised that work will result in localized dust and noise.
Life Sciences South - From 10/07/2024 to 12/13/2024
Oct 7Work will require construction personnel to occupy equipment rooms 194, 194A, 195 & 195A. Please be advised that work will result in localized dust and noise, but there are no anticipated impacts to any building systems.
Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center (BSCI) - From 9/16/2024 to 11/8/2024
Sep 16Construction personnel will occupy electrical room 2A for the duration of the work. Additionally, construction traffic will occur within the Physics Workshop/Storage Room 1 and the service elevator to the basement. However, hallway access for occupants will be maintained. Please note that this work may generate localized dust and noise.
Physics - From 08/30/2024 to 11/01/2024
Aug 30Construction personnel will occupy Electrical Room 2A, the Physics Workshop/Storage Room 1, and the Service Elevator to the Basement. However, hallway access for occupants will be maintained. Temporary impacts will include the presence of medium voltage cable routed into the Physics Workshop/Storage Room 1 running 10 feet overhead for the duration indicated on this notification. Please note that active work may generate localized dust and noise.
Art I South - From 08/19/2024 to 10/04/2024
Aug 19Steam pumps located in room 469 will be shut down for the duration of the work. This steam shutdown will impact radiators that contribute to the building's heating system. Please be advised that work will result in localized dust and noise, but there are no anticipated impacts to building users as building heat is not anticipated to be necessary during the temperate weeks.
Arts & Letters and Parking Lot 14 - On 07/26/2024 and 08/06/2024
Jul 26As part of the campus electrical upgrades project, planned electrical outages for the Arts & Letters building and parking lot 14 are required. There will be periodic construction personnel traffic in and around the Arts & Letters building throughout the entire duration of the work. The outages will entail a total loss of power for the durations specified below, affecting systems such as heating and air, lighting, receptacle convenience power, card/access/access control, elevators, etc. It is highly recommended that sensitive equipment unable to withstand an outage should be powered down the day before to avoid unanticipated impacts to the equipment during the outage window. After the outages, users will be able to re-enter the building and confirm that power is restored, and systems are fully functional. Any issues should be communicated immediately to the project team using the contact information provided at the end of this notification. ** Please also note that the Arts & Letters building and parking lot 14 will be closed to the public throughout the outage window detailed below. ** Duration of Impacts: The outage schedule is as follows: 1. On Friday, July 26th, 2024, from 2:00 am to 6:00 am 2. On Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, from 2:00 am to 6:00 am
