Electrical Infrastructure Upgrades Project

Loss of Redundancy in Power Generation

To: All Campus Users

From: Sarah Abdellatif, Substation A Communication Specialist/Program Analyst

Please be advised that Planning, Design & Construction will be performing a project that may impact you. Below are the details of the scope of work and anticipated impacts:

Scope of Work: Cogeneration redundancy for the full campus will be disconnected to enable a safe working environment for the construction crew. The campus gas turbine generators will not be available during the loss of redundancy. SDG&E will continue to supply power to the campus.

Reason for Project: Work associated with the Electrical Infrastructure Upgrades project in support of current campus needs and future growth.

Anticipated Impacts: Occupants should be aware that normal cogeneration redundancy will be temporarily unavailable for the full campus. Although the likelihood of a utility interruption during this maintenance period is low while the campus is utilizing power from SDG&E, it is recommended that any sensitive equipment be shut down prior to the scheduled maintenance period in an abundance of caution.

Start Time / Date: Thursday, October 10th, 2024, at 3:30 am
