Life Sciences North - 12/19/2023 - 01/15/2024
Dec 19Please be advised that construction staff will intermittently utilize areas in rooms 12, 14, and 15 throughout the duration of work. Although the noisiest activities will occur between 6 am and 8 am, it is anticipated that where will generally be localized dust and noise throughout the period of work. User access can be maintained in all areas and access impacts are generally minimal.
UPDATE - Closure of Extended Parking Spaces in Lot 16 - From 12/18/2023 to 08/16/2024
Dec 18In addition to the initially communicated closure in Lot 16, the area closed to parking will be increased. Following August 16th, 2024, the closed area will revert to the original configuration as previously communicated. Fencing and signage will be installed as required.
Facilities Services - Temporary Electrical Shutdown - On 07/19/2023 5:00 am to 6:00 am
Jul 19Mechanical and lighting systems will be minorly impacted in Facilities Services corresponding to work being performed within the control panel located in hallway 101 near the East Stairs. This work will result in a brief lack of air flow, and/or lighting control in rooms within the facility.
Facilities Services North Driveway Impacts - From 06/26/2023 to 07/26/2023
Jun 26Trenching and underground utility work on the east side of the north driveway behind Facility Services (FS) will be closed during active construction hours. Steel plates will be installed over open trenches to accommodate access to COGEN and Facilities Services as needed. An alternate route for vehicular access on the west end of the driveway will be directed by signage, flagmen and traffic control. Please be advised that work will result in localized dust and noise.
Avenue of the Arts Vehicular and Pedestrian Impacts - From 06/19/2023 to 08/07/2023
Jun 19Trenching and underground utility work will require vehicular access on a portion of Avenue of the Arts to the South of Art (I) South to be limited to one lane throughout the duration of work. Vehicular thru-traffic will be maintained by flagmen directing traffic in alternating directions and alternate pedestrian/accessible paths will be delineated by signage, flagmen and traffic control. The parking spaces between Hardy Tower and Professional Studies & Fine Arts (PSFA) will be closed, and access to the staircase in the Arts & Letters building will be limited to one staircase at certain times during the designated duration. The exact start and end dates will be announced in advance. Please be advised that work will result in localized dust and noise.

Jun 12Trenching and underground utility work will require vehicular access on the portion of Aztec Cir Dr to the East of the Engineering building to be limited to one lane. Vehicular thru-traffic will be maintained by flagmen directing traffic in alternating directions. Additionally, parking spaces located to the West of the GMCS building will be temporarily closed and not accessible throughout the duration of work. The work will require temporary sidewalk closures and alternate paths may require access through EIS. Alternate pedestrian/accessible paths will be delineated by signage, flagmen and traffic control. Please be advised that work will result in localized dust and noise.

Aztec Circle Drive, Avenue of Art & Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center’s Covered Breezeway Temporary Impacts REVISED - From 06/12/2023 to 06/23/2023
Jun 12Demolition and trenching for underground utility work occurring through the Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center’s covered breezeway will create noise and dust impacts to adjacent spaces, specifically to the Life Sciences North (LSN), and Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center. Additionally, access to the LSN loading dock will be temporarily closed during active construction hours. Deliveries to LSN, Life Sciences South (LS S) and the Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center will need to be directed to the south side of LSN. Vehicular access through the intersection of Avenue of Art and Aztec Cir Dr to the North of the Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center will be limited to one lane throughout the duration of work. Vehicular thru-traffic will be maintained by flagmen directing traffic in alternating directions. Alternate pedestrian/accessible paths will be delineated by signage, flagmen and traffic control with detours through LSN.
