Loss of Redundancy in Power Generation - From 10/19/2023 to 10/20/2023

Summary of impacts:

  • The redundant power feed from SDG&E will be disconnected to enable a safe working environment for SDG&E workers. The campus gas turbine generators will continue to supply power to the campus.

Please be advised that Planning, Design & Construction will be preparing for a project that may impact you. Below are the details of the scope of work and anticipated impacts:

Scope of Work: In support of the PDC-led construction project to replace Substation A, the redundant power feed from SDG&E will be disconnected to enable a safe working environment for SDG&E workers. The campus gas turbine generators will continue to supply power to the campus.

Reason for Project: SDG&E must make changes in their utility power feed configuration to support the new Substation A being constructed on campus.

Anticipated Impacts: Occupants need to be aware that there will be no redundancy to the power feed for the listed facilities. Should a loss of power occur during the maintenance period, emergency generators will still provide power to emergency circuits. Although the likelihood of a power interruption during this maintenance period is low, it is recommended that any sensitive equipment be shut down prior to the scheduled maintenance period.
