Please be advised that Planning, Design & Construction will be preparing for a project that may impact you. Below are the details of the scope of work and anticipated impacts with revised details noted:

Scope of Work: Utility infrastructure upgrades to underground conduits including patching and repair of asphalt/hardscape.

Reason for Project: Install new utility infrastructure in support of the Electrical Infrastructure Upgrades Project.

Anticipated Impacts:  Demolition and trenching for underground utility work occurring through the Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center’s covered breezeway will create noise and dust impacts to adjacent spaces, specifically to the Life Sciences North (LSN), and Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center.

Additionally, access to the LSN loading dock will be temporarily closed during active construction hours. Deliveries to LSN, Life Sciences South (LS S) and the Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center will need to be directed to the south side of LSN.

Vehicular access through the intersection of Avenue of Art and Aztec Cir Dr to the North of the Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center will be limited to one lane throughout the duration of work. Vehicular thru-traffic will be maintained by flagmen directing traffic in alternating directions.  Alternate pedestrian/accessible paths will be delineated by signage, flagmen and traffic control with detours through LSN.

Revised Impacts:In addition to the aforementioned impacts, access to the Biohazardous Waste Disposal Location, situated in the cage to the East of the Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center (BSCI), will be limited due to site construction activity from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Access to disposal area is available outside of active construction activity hours.  Otherwise, arrangements can be coordinated with Alejandro Rivera  at (858)248-5739 or [email protected].

Start Time / Date:  06:00 AM, Monday, June 12, 2023

End Time / Date: 04:00 PM, Friday, June 23, 2023

Note that active construction hours are from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm from Monday through Friday.  After work hours, steel plates will be installed over open trench areas and traffic control will be removed to allow for normal vehicular and pedestrian access until the next active construction work day.
